Indian-origin Hollywood actor, Dev Patel, has carved a niche for himself due to his amazing acting prowess. The actor, who made his acting debut with Slumdog Millionaire in 2008, is set to release his directorial debut film, Monkey Man. Monkey Man is an action-adventure film, which follows the life of a masked man who is on a mission to fight against evil. How he navigates through the corrupt administration becomes the plotline of the film.

Plot

Monkey Man explores the themes of love, ambition, crime and corruption through the leans of an orphaned young man whose sole aim is to avenge his mother’s death and become the saviour of the people. Inspired by the tales of Lord Hanuman, the central character becomes the masked Monkey Man who is willing to go to any lengths to protect the innocent from evil. Set in a peppy Punjabi background score, the film is filled with fast-paced action sequences which promises to be a visual treat on screen.

Set in a metropolitan town of India, Monkey Man gives the audience a peek inside the life of an orphan young man who wants to avenge the death of his mother. Inspired by the folktales of Lord Hanuman, he becomes a masked Monkey Man to be the saviour of his people. The trailer makes a stark contrast on the classist and exploitative nature of society while also showcasing the inner turmoil of the central character as he pursues his goals.

Cast

Backed by Jordan Peele and Universal Studios, Monkey Man is directed by Dev Patel. The film stars Dev Patel, Sikandar Kher, and Sobhita Dhulipala, among others.

Release date

This action-packed adventure film is set to hit the theatres on April 4.

Speaking about his inspiration for the film, the actor revealed that growing up he used to listen to Ramayana and Mahabharat stories and thought about making this fusion of mythology with the action genre.
