Mukhbir: The Story of a Spy released on Zee5 on November 11, 2022. The lead actor of the show, Zain Khan Durrani, speaks about his character named Harphan and his reason to take up the show. He calls Harphan an ‘accidental spy.’

“I like to call Harphan an accidental spy who was put into a certain situation by other characters. He is street-smart with a witty personality,” Zain describes his character. He claims that Harphan has a certain unpredictability and flamboyance that makes him enough despite being the opposite of trained professional.

Recalling the economy in the 60s, Zain shared that Harphan had to work various jobs to make ends meet. “This man Kamran Baksh makes his ends meet by doing unusual stuff like being a mechanic, being a punter, being a thug at times and so on. But at the end of the day, he is a sensitive man,” he shared.

The actor’s preparation was limited to the script given to him. “I had been wishing for this since a while now and when Mukhbir came to me in the form of a very well written script, I couldn’t wait to give it a nod,” Zain expressed.

He was attracted to the role thanks to the minute detailing. The actor also feels the series let him explore his ‘inner creativity’ that let him delve deeper into the craft of acting.

“The aspects of it being very well rounded with an interesting plot, relevance and spectacular film making and writing. What attracted me the most is the fact that it offered me a character and a graph that I had never explored before,” Zain said.

He also questioned the mental state of his character, who was so caught up with his mission. The actor asked, “Imagine the kind of toll it would take on him.”

Mukhbir has received rave reviews from audiences and critics alike. The show can be streamed on OTTplay and Zee5.
