Murali Gopy, the multi-talented actor who is also known for his screenplays for movies like Kammara Sambhavam and Lucifer, has impressed once again with his role in Kuruthi. The movie which premiered on Amazon Prime Video on August 11 has opened to positive response.

Gopy, talking to the media during the film's virtual trailer launch, said, “Kuruthi is a candid piece of cinema, very incisive, very intuitive and it holds a mirror to ourselves, both as an individual and as a people.”

Kuruthi is a socio-political thriller that talks about relevant issues in our society. The movie conveys these messages without sounding preachy, and has action. Gopi plays a cop who barges into a secluded house with a prisoner seeking shelter. The character doesn’t let go of his morals even in the face of danger.

“We shot the film during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. There were a lot of restrictions in place and we were actually racing against time,” said Gopy, about the production of Kuruthi. “I don't have any memories other than the ones I was having in front of the camera, in character, because that was the pace at which the film was shot.”

Gopy has previously collaborated with Prithivraj in two films, Tiyaan in 2017 and Lucifer in 2019, which marked the latter’s directorial debut. Both movies were scripted by Gopy.

Kuruthi, bankrolled by Supriya Menon under the banner of Prithviraj Productions, is directed by Manu Warrier and also features Roshan Mathew, Srinda, Shine Tom Chacko and Mamukkoya.
