The OTT scenario in India has changed since 2020. After the COVID-19 lockdowns, streaming giants like Netflix, ZEE5, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar and more have gained more viewers. They have the advantage of comfort and convenience, along with budget-friendly subscription plans. The year 2024 has had a wonderful start, with great cinema and TV shows being released online. March seems to be no different, with more high-quality and refreshing films and series on offer.

Sunflower Season 2 (ZEE5)

Releasing on: March 1

The new season features several old faces and one special new one. While Sunil Grover returns as Sonu, Ranvir Shorey, Girish Kulkarni, Radha Bhatt, and Ashish Vidyarthi will reprise their roles as residents of Sunflower society. Adah Sharma joins the cast as Rosie, the charming new inhabitant of the society. The second season will continue in its search for Mr. Kapoor’s killer while the eccentricities of the society's residents and the mysterious aura of Sonu Singh continue to add further dust to the already murky waters of the murder investigation.

Maharani Season 3 (SonyLiv)

Releasing on: March 7

Inspired by the incidents that took place in Bihar in the 1990s with Lalu Prasad Yadav, the CM of Bihar, and his successor, his wife Rabri Devi. Maharani Season 3 will see Rani Bharti plan a grand comeback to get out of jail and take back what is hers, the chair of the CM of Bihar. Not only that, with elections around the corner, Rani Bharti must try to turn things around in her favour. Starring Huma Qureshi as the Queen of Bihar, the third season will see the return of Amit Sial, Vineet Kumar, Pramod Pathak, and Dibyendu Bhattacharya reprise their roles.

The Gentlemen (Netflix)

Releasing on: March 7

The Gentlemen follows the unexpected story of Eddie Horniman, played by Theo James, who inherits his estranged father’s sizeable family estate in the country only to discover it has been running a massive cannabis business inside. With such a ready-made, profitable business on hand, Eddie needs to be ready with a shotgun to face the criminal vultures of the London underbelly while nursing a glass of top-shelf bourbon and a Nicaraguan cigar.

Showtime (Disney+)

Releasing on: March 8

Showtime boasts an impressive cast and an intriguing premise. The series explores the internal dynamics and politics of Bollywood, as well as the divide between filmmakers who wish to create mainstream content for profit and those who wish to make one-of-a-kind films. Starring Emraan Hashmi, Naseeruddin Shah, Mouni Roy, Shriya Saran and Rajeev Khandelwal, the film also offers a personal discourse on nepotism in the industry.

HanuMan (ZEE5)

Releasing on: March 8

The feel-good film follows the journey of the happy-go-lucky Hanumanthu, who begins developing strange powers while evil starkly grows and thrives in society. HanuMan, a family-oriented social commentary on the battle between good and evil, faith and technology, follows how the rustic hero learns to use them correctly and utilises them to stop Michael, a power-hungry tech wiz from the city.

Damsel (Netflix)

Releasing on: March 8

Playing the role of a sheltered princess Elodie, Millie Bobby Brown may deliver her career-best performance. Ready to marry her prince and live happily ever after, Elodie is instead thrown off the cliff into a dragon’s lair as a tasty generation morsel to appease an ancient curse. If all that is not enough, Elodie is stuck without help, proper clothing or weaponry in a deadly lair where a long line of pure damsels have died before her. But she refuses to be put down so easily and emerges a damsel who needs no saving, either from fiery dragons or golden mask-wearing cults.

Merry Christmas (Netflix)

Starring Vijay Sethupati and Katrina Kaif in lead roles, the film follows two strangers who cross paths in a stroke of luck. What begins as a teasing adventure and a sweet, tantalizing romance, soon develops into a crime scene with deadly repercussions. What went wrong, who is the predator, who is the prey? The answers lie in Sriram Raghavan’s latest masterpiece.

Murder Mubarak (Netflix)

The wacky whodunnit murder mystery follows Pankaj Tripathi as ACP Bhavani, an officer who investigates a murder at an exclusive posh recreational resort of South Delhi. With 7 prime suspects, each more intriguing and eccentric than the rest, Bhavani must trudge through the murky depths of deception, lies, secrets, and betrayal to arrive at the truth. Starring the talented likes of Sara Ali Khan, Dimple Kapadia, Karishma Kapoor, Vijay Verma, Sanjay Kapoor, among others, the film promises to equally thrill and enthrall the audience.

Ae Watan Mere Watan (Prime Video)

Releasing on: March 21

Sara Ali Khan stars in a never-seen-before avatar as Usha. Ae Watan Mere Watan is inspired by the real-life freedom fighter Usha Mehta, who urged listeners on the radio to revolt against the British. In the film, Sara will run an underground radio station that has the potential to change the course of India’s struggle for Independence. The historic thriller also features a special cameo by Emraan Hashmi.

Fighter (Netflix)

Releasing on: March 21

Fighter is the ultimate movie binge on Netflix, especially with the sizzling chemistry between Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone, as well as the realistic aerial action sequences. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film has an impressive cast other than Roshan and Padukone, with Anil Kapoor, Karan Singh Grover, Ashutosh Rana, and Akshay Oberoi onboard.
