My Oni Girl explores the story of Hiiragi Yatsuse, a first-year high school student who resides in the picturesque and prestigious Yamagata Prefecture. On the other hand, there is Tsumugi, a one-horned female Oni demon. Stifled by loneliness and yearning to be liked by his peers by creating a good impression, Hiiragi can never say no to anyone whenever anyone asks for his help or requests anything from him.
As for Tsumugi, she does what she pleases and is a bubbly, powerful, and formidable Oni female who has come to earth to find her mother. When their paths cross one summer day, while Hiiragi is trying to unsuccessfully carry out another request, a connection is formed between the two. Since Tsumugi’s arrival, mystery has also brought snow in the summer, heralding change and rebirth in the coming days, along with some formidable adventures.
Polar opposites, Tsumugi and Hiiragi may rub off their best bits on each other, imbuing Hiiragi with the validation and confidence he seeks without having to be such a people-pleaser, while Tsumugi may gain some balance and companionship in life, not to mention some help while searching for her mother and navigating the mortal realm.
