Back in October, the promoters the new Kannada streaming platform Katte Entertainment, the director-actor duo SD Aravinda and his brother Avinash Narasimharaju, were all gung-ho about beginning operations officially on November 1. Owing to a technical glitch, though, that plan had to be put on hold, as they overhauled the app in time for a Christmas launch. “A bug in the app derailed our plans and we have been working on providing subscribers a better platform. Katte Entertainment has begun streaming with a selection of short films, like Nammane by Sampath Kannanth Kundapura, Maha Samparka and Happy Break Up by Santhosh Gopal, among others,” says Arvinda, who serves as Chief Operating Officer of the platform.
Katte Entertainment is now back on track, says Arvinda, adding that starting tomorrow, subscribers can stream two films in pay-per-view format, Days of Borapura and Soham, either as a one-time rental or outright purchase for anytime access during the time the films are available on the platform. A week later, the Aditya Kunigal directed Vriksham will be available to view. “The plan is to add one new film every week,” says Arvinda.
Their maiden web series, Namma Oorina Rasikaru, though, will be available from December 23 only. Namma Oorina Rasikaru is based on Goruru Iyengar Ramaswamy’s novel by the same name. Directed by Nandita Yadav, the show stars Lakshmi Gopalaswamy, Mandya Ramesh, B Suresha, Sunetra Pandit and Rajesh Nataranga, among others. “We will also have a seven-episode stand-up show called Comedy Pantru, as well as Music Pettige, which is on the lines of Coke Studio,” says Arvinda.
