Netflix’s virtual event which celebrates geek culture came to an end on Friday, bringing with it much awaited news regarding the hit Henry Cavill series - The Witcher - and other video games adaptations which will definitely be a treat for gaming aficionados. Netflix’s Geeked Week has been a great initiative, giving the viewers a front-row seat to the biggest announcements. The event was replete with exclusive interviews, teasers and more, giving us an intimate look at what we can expect to stream on the OTT giant. Here is a glance at some of these much-awaited projects:
The Witcher Season 2
Based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s books, The Witcher will be back for a second season. An incredibly brief teaser was released for The Witcher where we get a glimpse of Ciri and a lot of hidden easter eggs which the fans of the series might be able to spot. Season 2 wrapped up in April and we will get more information about the series on July 9 at Witchercon.
The Cuphead Show
Whose Line Is It Anyway? star Wayne Brady will be voicing the main villain, King Dice in this adaptation of the Cuphead game. From the first look only, the series looks quite promising.
Arcane
Set in the world of League of Legends - one of the most popular video games of all time - Arcane will follow the storyline of different characters from Piltover, the Utopian world.
Splinter Cell
The famous Ubisoft game is getting adapted for a series by the creator of John Wick, Derek Kolstad. We might not be able to watch the series anytime soon as no release date has been announced yet.
Castlevania Spinoff
The new series will see an expansion of the boundaries of Castlevania as the new show will center around Richter Belmont, in the background of the 1792 French Revolution.
Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon remix
This six episode series of the bestselling Ubisoft game is an adaptation of the Far Cry 3 expansion Blood Dragon. This project will be helmed by executive producer Adi Shankar and Bobbypills animation studio. Netflix has another Far Cry series in the works.
Resident Evil
After the announcement of Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness on Day 4, Netflix dropped another exclusive glimpse into the main cast for their live-action series! This diverse cast includes Paola Núñez, Tamara Smart, Lance Reddick, Ella Balinska and more.
