On Monday, Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor had their yearly Christmas lunch together. An inside video had surfaced in which Ranbir can be seen lighting a Christmas cake that has been soaked in spirit. Just before lighting the cake, he says, "Jai mata di."

Earlier today, it was reported that a police complaint had been filed against Ranbir Kapoor for allegedly offending religious feelings. On Wednesday, December 27, Sanjay Tiwari, via his attorneys Ashish Rai and Pankaj Mishra, filed a complaint at Mumbai's Ghatkopar police station. The complaint states that during the Kapoor Christmas feast, the actor set fire to a cake laced with alcohol and then chanted "Jai Mata Di."
"In Hinduism, the fire god is invoked before invoking other deities, but Ranbir Kapoor and his family members deliberately used intoxicants while celebrating the festival of another religion and chanted Jai Mata Di," the complaint said.
Currently, netizens have been reacting to this. But many have ridiculed and criticised the complainant. In the now-viral video, Ranbir and his family members are seen seated around their breakfast table. Navya Naveli Nanda and Aadar Jain are seen capturing the moment on their phones. Ranbir lights the cake, saying, "Jai mata di," when Zahan Kapoor finished pouring spirit on it.
