Karan Wahi is gearing up for the release of the second season of the massively popular web series Never Kiss Your Best Friend. The show, which stars Nakuul Mehta and Anya Singh in lead roles, also features Sarah Jane Dias as the new cast addition. Karan has previously appeared in a number of television programmes including Dill Mill Gayye and Fuh se Fantasy. Since Never Kiss Your Best Friend 2 is an OTT release, Karan recently discussed his experience working on both TV and OTT in an interview with News18.com.

When questioned if more stars are turning to OTT content since television storylines no longer offer something meaningful, the actor responded that it is a common misconception. He went on to say that television isn't dying, but rather rising, thanks to the rise of OTT services. We have the impression that television is backward. But television, he believes, will never go away; it is here to stay. The reason being that it has a vast audience watching these stories, and now everyone has the privilege of being able to watch television shows on OTT platforms as well.

Karan went on to say that not everything on TV is always regressive, and not everything on OTT is definitely trendy. "You're filming 5–6 episodes per week. How much can you creatively pull out from your system if you shoot this much?,” the actor added.

However, the actor accepted that drama is frequently added to television series. He also pointed out that there are programmes on television that are relevant and not regressive. “Yes, television has a dramatic element, but that is the nature of the medium. It's as easy as that, they can't broadcast a 10-episode love story on TV without stretching it,” Karan remarked.

When asked if he feels reality shows have gotten scripted in recent years because he has hosted numerous of them. The actor emphasised that reality shows are dramatised, not scripted. He said reality show content hasn't changed in years, and as a result, it appears scripted because they do identical things. A reality show cannot be scripted as the outcomes can’t be scripted. He believes that dramatising a reality show is the only way to make it more fascinating for the audience. Reality shows appear false or staged as a result of this drama, he remarked.

Bigg Boss was also mentioned by the actor, who claimed that reality programmes have become 'fictionalised’. Even on a programme like Bigg Boss, one doesn’t know what actually occurs and who’s saying what to whom, because one is simply watching the best one hour of television. He firmly believes it might be dramatised, but not scripted.

Meanwhile, Never Kiss Your Best Friend 2 will release on ZEE5 on April 29.
