The much-celebrated director-actor duo, Manoj Bajpayee and Devashish Makhija, who have earlier delivered the path-breaking National Award-winning film Bhosle, is again making all the right noises for their upcoming film Joram. The film has been selected for the FBR (Film Bazaar Recommended) section of the Viewing Room at the NFDC Film Bazaar 2022.
FBR is a specially-curated section, in which feature-length films are submitted. The makers of films selected under this category get a chance to pitch their project at the Film Bazaar for finishing funds, world sales, distribution partners and film festivals.
The film is not only directed by Devashish, but also jointly produced by him and Zee Studios.
Talking about how the selection will allow the film to get better mileage, Devashish said, "It is with a fiercely indie spirit that Joram has been made. All Makhijafilms have a spirit of community in their making, even if they are backed by Zee Studios."
A thriller, Joram is the tale of survival of a father and daughter. The story revolves around a father and his three-month-old baby girl, who are trying to survive desperately as they are set against the giant canvas of displacement, iron-ore mining, development and the environment.
Speaking about their collaboration with Makhijafilm, Shariq Patel, CBO, Zee Studios, said, "I have been a fan of Dev’s (Devashish) work for the longest time. So, when he decided to turn producer with Joram and got us this script, we grabbed it pretty much immediately."
Joram also stars Zeeshan Ayyub, Smita Tambe and Megha Mathur. It has Tannishtha Chatterjee and Rajshri Deshpande in special appearances.
Devashish's last directorial venture, Bhonsle, which also starred Manoj Bajpayee, won multiple awards worldwide. Manoj bagged the National Award for Best Actor for the film.
Bhosle is available to stream on OTTplay and SonyLiv.
