Nikhil and Anupama Parameswaran are on a mission to uncover the deeper secrets of Dwaraka in Karthikeya 2

Happy Days actor Nikhil Siddhartha scored one of his biggest hits as a lead in his career with Chandoo Mondeti’s supernatural thriller Karthikeya back in 2014. The film is now getting a sequel, Karthikeya 2, which will hit theatres on July 22. Apart from Nikhil, the film helmed by Chandoo Mondeti stars Anupama Parameswaran as the female lead.

Anupam Kher, Aditya Menon, KS Sridhar, Srinivas Reddy, Satya, Praveen and Harsha Chemudu play crucial roles in the film. The film’s trailer was launched yesterday and one couldn’t have asked for a better glimpse to kickstart its promotional campaign. The trailer is grand, intense, high on action, thrills with a dose of adventure as well.

While the film’s prequel revolved around a series of supernatural events around a Lord Subramanya temple, the focus shifts to Dwaraka and Lord Krishna in Karthikeya 2. The trailer has a character cautioning someone about destiny choosing its gifted child to undertake an important task. We see Nikhil climbing up the hills, running, escaping the sight of baddies to accomplish his mission at any cost.

While offering a gist of the film, the makers of Karthikeya 2 do well to not reveal too much about the plot. Supernatural thrillers are a rarity in Telugu cinema and director Chandoo Mondeti, who returns to feature films after a brief break, looks set to prove his worth again. Nikhil appears at ease in a role that looks tailormade for him and the presence of Anupama, Anupam Kher gives the film an extra edge.

Karthikeya 2 is jointly produced by Abhishek Agarwal and TG Vishwa Prasad under Abhishek Agarwal Arts and People Media Factory. ZEE5 has acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights of the film that will release in multiple languages.
