Nivin Pauly joins Akhil Sathyan’s 'humour-driven fantasy' after Fahadh Faasil's Pachuvum Athbhutha Vilakkum | Exclusive

Malayalam star Nivin Pauly seems to be on a signing spree, and he’s been bagging some stellar projects too. The most recent is the sophomore directorial of Pachuvum Athbhutha Vilakkum director Akhil Sathyan that is set to go on floors in 2024.

The filmmaker, in an exclusive chat with OTTplay, confirms that he will be joining hands with Nivin for his upcoming movie, which will have a rural backdrop and will be a fantasy movie of sorts. “It has humour but is also layered with a deep emotion,” he says.

Incidentally, Nivin was also the first choice for Akhil’s debut directorial Pachuvum Athbhutha Vilakkum, before Fahadh Faasil was roped in for the titular role in the film, which is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Akhil had earlier announced another film that was loosely based on Sherlock Holmes, but he has decided to fast-track the Nivin Pauly-starrer as his second directorial. Much like his debut film, Akhil will also be scripting and directing the upcoming film. As of now, only Nivin has been finalised for the movie, which is expected to be one of the more-anticipated films in the Premam actor’s line-up for 2024.

Meanwhile, Nivin, who has Jana Gana Mana’s director Dijo Jose Antony’s untitled film coming up, is also part of PR Arun’s web series Pharma. The latter, which is expected to begin streaming on Disney+ Hotstar in 2024, marks his web series debut and also has Bollywood actor Rajat Kapur as part of the cast.

Nivin, who also has Abrid Shine’s Action Hero Biju sequel, has also signed another big action entertainer, which will be helmed by debutant Aaryan Ramani Girijivallabhan. The movie, which is expected to go on floors by June-July 2024, will have expansive action sequences that will be choreographed by a Hollywood stunt director as well as Jackie Chan’s senior associate.
