Directed by Kabir Khan, the sports biographical film is based on India's first win at Cricket World Cup.
It's raining theatrical release dates soon after Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray announced that all cinema halls and drama theatres in the state will reopen from October 22, 2021. Ranveer Singh took to his social media pages and dropped the release date of his much-awaited film 83. The film based on India's first win at the Cricket World Cup is hitting the big screens during Christmas weekend this year.
Ranveer posted an unseen still from 83 featuring his co-stars as Team India namely Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jiiva, Saqib Saleem, Harrdy Sandhu, Ammy Virk, Nishant Dahiya, Sahil Khattar and others. They are seen having a cheerful moment while on the field and it's a sight to behold, indeed.
While announcing the release date, Ranveer wrote, "It’s time... 83 IN CINEMAS THIS CHRISTMAS. Releasing in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. #ThisIs83."
83 is a Kabir Khan directorial while he co-produced the film with Vishnuvardhan Induri, Deepika Padukone and Sajid Nadiadwala.

83 faced the wrath of the COVID-19 pandemic as the film was slated to release in April 2020. However, earlier this year, the makers announced the release date as 4 June 2021. But due to the second wave of coronavirus, the film got postponed once again and now it's finally coming out on Christmas this year.
Reliance Entertainment who is also co-producing Akshay Kumar starrer Sooryavanshi booked Diwali weekend, which left 83 to opt for a Christmas release.
Due to this, Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer Laal Singh Chaddha has been postponed to February 2022.
