Not Maidaan, Ajay Devgn announces release date of Mayday with Amitabh Bachchan, Rakul Preet Singh

A day after Sooryavanshi's announcement, Ajay Devgn took the opportunity to announce the release date of his next directorial, Mayday. Surprisingly, the actor has not yet revealed when his movie Maidaan will release.

Mayday stars Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay and Rakul Preet Singh in the lead roles. While Ajay and Rakul had previously worked together in De De Pyaar De, this is the first time that Big B joins them in a movie. Amitabh and Ajay have also shared screen in Satyagraha among other movies previously but this is the first time when the latter directs the megastar.

The aviation thriller drama is slated to release on April 29, 2022, Ajay revealed through his post. The actor shared individual photos of him, Big B and Rakul while sharing the news, which was first out in December 2020.

The movie also stars Angira Dhar in the role of a lawyer and Boman Irani as an airline owner. Akanksha Singh plays Ajay (Siddharth Awasthi)'s wife Anita in the movie.

MayDay also features Indira Gandhi. The movie sees Flora Jacob in the role after Kangana Ranaut's Thalaivii.

More recently, Akshay Kumar's Bell Bottom also featured Lara Dutta in the role of India's former PM. So far, she has come closest to nailing the character, at least look-wise.

Mayday is majorly shot in Hyderabad and Mumbai. Some portions of the movie are also filmed in Russia. The film is also likely to be turned into a franchise.
