Last week, there were several rumours that Mohanlal has cancelled his dates for Ajagajantharam director Tinu Pappachan’s next and had given those to filmmaker Siddique, whose previous film Big Brother with the star failed to create any stir at the box office. However, latest reports suggest that the actor will be taking up neither of these projects and would be starting work on a Jeethu Joseph directorial.
Mohanlal is currently busy with his directorial debut Barroz: The Guardian of D’Gama’s Treasure and is expected to wrap up its shoot by June in Portugal. The team is currently filming its portions in Goa, after which Mohanlal will fly to Europe for the final leg of the shoot of the 3D children’s fantasy movie.
The plan right now is for the actor to directly resume the shoot of Jeethu’s Ram in the UK. The big budget action-thriller had completed almost 70% of its shoot before the pandemic in 2020. Also starring Trisha, Indrajith Sukumaran and Adil Hussain, the movie, which will have Mohanlal in the titular role, was supposed to wrap its shooting in 2020, but was delayed due to the pandemic restrictions.
Since then, Mohanlal and Jeethu had teamed up for two movies – Drishyam 2 and 12thMan, both direct-to-OTT releases. While Drishyam 2 marked the star’s first direct-to-OTT release when it dropped on Amazon Prime Video in February 2021, 12thMan is set to release on Disney+ Hotstar on May 20.
The mystery drama, which also has Unni Mukundan, Sshivada, Rahul Madhav, G Chandunadh, Priyanka Nair, Anusree, Aditi Ravi, Saiju Kurup and Anu Mohan, is Mohanlal’s second direct release on Disney+ Hotstar after Prithviraj Sukumaran directorial Bro Daddy.
Mohanlal, meanwhile, has also completed the shoot of Shaji Kailas’ single-actor film Alone and Vysakh’s investigative thriller Monster, which is scripted by Udaykrishna. Both the movies along with 12th Man and Barroz are produced by Aashirvad Cinemas.
