One of the most promising actors in the OTT space, Aparshakti Khurana has won an award under the ‘Breaking the Mould’ category at the OTT Play Awards 2023, for his pathbreaking performance as Binod Das a.k.a Madan Kumar in Jubilee (out on Amazon Prime Video).

The event was held in Mumbai on October 29. Thrilled about the honour, a jubilant Aparshakti, who was also the host of the evening, said, “It's absolutely amazing to earn money and also get an award on the same night, but thank you so much for the award. Jubilee has really been an integral part of my life."

Talking about his co-star in the series, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Aparshakti said, "Dada is sitting here. It's so gracious of you to say, "Roy babu ke bina Binod nahin hai, Sachchai yeh hai ki it's just beautiful to work with you. Binod happened only because of you. The very first day of the workshop, the kind of confidence you gave me, it was absolutely beautiful. I was really nervous. I am Binod because of what you made me do."

The actor later went and fell at his feet and the duo shared a warm embrace.

Aparshakti Khurani was cast as the projector boy-turned-actor Madan Kumar in the critically acclaimed show, which offered immense scope for the actor to prove his versatility as a performer. The actor skilfully navigated through the meaty role, while embracing the highs, lows of the film world and his personal life in the late 1940s and early 1950s.

Jubilee, jointly created by Vikramaditya Motwane and Soumik Sen, unfolds in the backdrop of a newly independent India, where an arrogant studio boss, his lost better half, a well-trusted subordinate, a dancer and a refugee seek validation, fame and stardom in the Hindi film industry.
