Pa. Ranjith to direct a romantic drama next; details inside

Pa. Ranjith became a familiar name in the Tamil industry right from his debut Attakathi starring Dinesh. The film is a romantic comedy focussing on a young man named Dinakaran who mistakes infatuation for love and lives to regret it. Now, after 8 years, Pa. Ranjith is venturing once more into the romance genre. This time, however, he will be directing a serious romantic drama named Natchathiram Nagargirathu.

The title was revealed by an enthused Rathna Kumar, who directed Aadai and wrote for Master and Vikram. His Twitter post read,

Pa. Ranjith is awaiting the release of his new film Sarpatta Parambarai featuring Arya and Dushara Vijayan, narrating the story of a clash between two warring factions in North Chennai, namely Idiyappa and Sarpatta. The movie will premiere on Amazon Prime in Telugu and Tamil this July 22.

The director had shot to fame with his political thriller Madras featuring Karthi and Kalaiarasan in lead roles. He later directed Rajnikanth in Kabali and Kaala, telling stories about the downtrodden and marginalised. Apart from direction, Pa. Ranjith has also produced a handful of critically acclaimed films such as Pariyerum Perumal and Irandam Ulagaporin Kadaisi Gundu.
