Panchayat 2: Jitendra Kumar says he is an actor because of OTT, which has been a big saviour for him

The new season of the fan-favourite show Panchayat, led by Jitendra Kumar , is again heaping praises for its story and performances. The show had an early release on Amazon Prime Video and the fans can't stop talking about it. A part of OTTplay review reads, "Panchayat 2 has all the elements of a perfect family entertainer, be it comedy, drama or emotions." 

Recently, Abhishek aka Jitendra Kumar talked about the show and if his character on the TVF show will crack CAT and get the corporate job that he has been dreaming of. He also spoke about how OTT made his journey easy. He calls digital medium, 'a big saviour'. 

Speaking to First Post, the actor said the characters on the show have evolved and there are a few new characters introduced in the show but the core concept remains the same. He said the village shown in the series is different from what he had expected. Phulera is more modern and his character Abhishek represents the youth today. "There are many such youths who have gone through similar phases in their life because the employment situation is bad now and the population is huge which is the biggest problem in our country," he said adding that being a misfit at a job and dreaming of more is every youth's story. He finds the character very relatable as he had too faced similar issues in life but now, considers himself lucky to be part of the digital movement. 

He said he is fortunate enough to land at the right place at right time. Had OTT not been there, he said he would have taken more time to establish himself in cinema or TV shows as they are different ballgames altogether. When he came to Mumbai, web shows were just picking up. The Viral Fever Videos was just also coming up with a lot of content and that is how his journey began. He believes OTT has brought a change for everyone, both artists and audiences. "This era is all about having a digital presence and I am an actor today because of the digital platform. Thankfully because of the digital platform the stories are also rooted and there are no heroes, but the protagonist and every character of a show or film on a digital platform are important," he said, adding that audiences too now appreciate content more.

Meanwhile, Season 2 of Panchayat is streaming now on Amazon Prime Video. The show also features Neena Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, Biswapati Sarkar, Faisal Malik, Chandan Roy and Pooja Singh.
