MTV EMA called off their 2023 edition over the ongoing dispute between Israel and Gaza and requested their guests to stop travelling to Paris

The MTV European Music Awards is one of the most influential award ceremonies across the globe. It is presented by Paramount International Networks to honour artists and music in pop culture. The event has always been held in different countries every year. Although mostly hosted in the UK, it has also been hosted in the US many times.
The awards are given to varieties of musicians, from continental or international. Interestingly, since 2007, Paramount has given a special right to listeners and viewers to vote for their favourite artists on MTV's official website.
When was MTV EMA established?
Started in 1994, it's been 29 years, the award ceremony has been creating a special place in audiences' hearts. Unfortunately, this year, MTV has called off the event on Thursday, October 19. A spokesperson of MTV unveiled the news on Twitter and wrote, “Given the volatility of world events, we have decided not to move forward with the 2023 MTV EMAs out of an abundance of caution for the thousands of employees, crew members, artists, fans, and partners who travel from all corners of the world to bring the show to life.”
When was the European Music Awards arranged?
The MTV EMA 2023 was scheduled to begin on November 5 in Paris. But due to the ongoing heinous war between Israel and Gaza, the organisers did not feel like doing a global celebration. Hence decided to cancel.
However, MTV also revealed that they will surely return in Novenber 2024.
