Hera Pheri, the cult film which was released in 2000 got its sequel Hera Pheri 2 in 2006. However, it's been 15 years and the fans are awaiting the third instalment in the hit franchise. The films gave fans an iconic trio Baburao, Raju and Shyam played by Paresh Rawal, Akshay Kumar and Suneil Shetty respectively. Priyadarshan directed the first part while late Neeraj Vora helmed Hera Pheri 2.
Now during an interaction with Indian Express, Paresh dropped a hint about Hera Pheri 3. The veteran actor who is promoting Hungama 2 directed by Priyadarshan told the publication, "They are trying to work it out. Hopefully, by the end of this year, you will get good news."
Interestingly, Hera Pheri is a remake of the Malayalam film Ramji Rao Speaking which was directed by Siddique-Lal. The original film starred Sai Kumar, Mukesh, Innocent and Rekha in the lead roles.
Ramji Rao Speaking also had a sequel titled Mannar Mathai Speaking, which was adapted by Priyadarshan for his directorial Bhagam Bhaag starring Paresh, Akshay and Govinda in the lead roles.
Meanwhile, Rawal has starred in several Priyadarshan directorial namely Doli Saja Ke Rakhna, Hera Pheri, Yeh Teraa Ghar Yeh Meraa Ghar, Hungama, Hulchul, Garam Masala, Bhagam Bhaag, Malamaal Weekly, Chup Chup Ke, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Mere Baap Pehle Aap, De Dana Dan, Aakrosh, Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal and latest being Hungama 2.
Talking about the upcoming film, it's the Hindi remake of the Malayalam film Minnaram. The film directed by Priyadarshan also stars Meezaan Jaaferi, Shilpa Shetty Kundra and Pranitha Subhash in the lead roles. Hungama 2 is set for an OTT release and will stream on Disney+ Hotstar from July 23, 2021.
