Ranveer Singh had confessed that his character of Alauddin Khilji stayed back with him much after the shoot for Padmaavat completed. Paresh Rawal slammed the same and told Siddharth Kannan in an interview that it is disappointing and the method is wrong. "Accha mujhe ek baat bataiye ap jitna bhi daaru pee lo maa ya biwi ke palang pe jaake hi so jaate ho. Woh saakshi bhav hain na," he had said.

"Yeh galat hain ki main role mein ghus gaya tha… toh kisi ko chaku maar doge aap," the veteran actor had stated back then. With it, he questioned the extreme steps actors take to get into a character and get so immersed into it that they forget to distinguish it with real life.

About Padmaavat and the controversies it has faced over the years

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat was stopped from theatrical release thrice back when it was in the filming stage. This happened over a rumoured scene where Khilji, the antagonist of the film, has a dream romance sequence with Rani Padmavati. The scene never made it to the final cut.

Back in the day, Khilji's character was called glamourized while Shahid Kapoor, who played the lead protagonist Maharawal Ratan Singh, was overlooked. The actor had indirectly hinted about the project by talking about loud acting and not getting his due.

Kangana Ranaut had spoken about the movie in the recent times, stating that she was offered the role of Padmavati but turned the offer down because she didn't just want to appear as 'someone who dresses up.' Netizens were soon to notice that the female lead is all about that - dressing up and looking pretty.

Padmaavat is the story of Padmavati choosing sati over being a sacrifice to Khilji, who is mesmerized by her beauty and captures Chittor just to have control over her. The movie re-released in theatres over a month ago but did not perform as expected.
