Pathaan, Shah Rukh Khan's most recent action film, has sparked unreal hysteria. The superstar's fans are ecstatic to see him back on the big screen after a four-year absence, but things are also getting out of hand. The cinemas in Amravati, Dhule, Malegaon, Raipur, Bilaspur, and Nasik are currently "restricting people's entry" into the auditoriums screening Pathaan because they are "at their wits' end trying to control the madness of the crowds," according to trade analyst Komal Nahta.
Nahta posted pictures of people dancing too closely to the screens in movie theatres. As Besharam Rang and the upbeat Jhoome Jo Pathaan played on the screen, people could be seen dancing on chairs, in the aisle, and on the stage in groups while screaming and hollering.
“Several cinemas are now reporting damage to the screens because of this frenzy. In their excitement, people don’t realise that they are dancing so close to the screens that they are damaging them in the process. Not just the screens of the cinemas but also the seats are being found broken because a lot of people, unable to control their enthusiasm, are actually dancing on their seats towards the end of the film, on the Jhoome jo Pathaan song,” Nahta wrote.
The trade expert claims that the excitement has caused damages to the properties, forcing the exhibitors to limit the number of individuals who can enter their theatres.
“The aforementioned stations are not issuing tickets once around 30-35% of their seats are booked because that’s all that their staff can control. It doesn’t need to be added that this is causing a loss not just to the cinemas but also to Yash Raj Film Distributors because the collections are being artificially controlled,” the report read.
Meanwhile, at the box office, Pathaan is doing very well and has already broken a number of records, including the greatest opening day, highest single day, and fastest Hindi film to reach the Rs 200 crore club.
