Vivek Agnihotri posted a video on Instagram criticising the Pathaan song Besharam Rang featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone. However, internet users severely mocked him for his "hypocrisy." The Kashmir Files filmmaker posted a song clip that had been spliced with a video of a little girl talking about how women are affected by obscene scenes in movies. The girl in the video can be heard enquiring while snippets from the Pathaan song play, why do people wear such proactive clothes and show such moves, t he girl then inquires as to whether such content is shown for money.
She concludes by urging filmmakers to alter their scripts and direction by blaming such content for crimes against women. Sharing the video, he wrote, “WARNING:#PnV video against Bollywood. Don’t watch it if you are a Secular."
However, internet users went digging into Agnihotri's earlier tweets about women in the comments section and posted old videos of him praising a woman's body. Social media users also brought up the erotic thriller he directed in 2012 titled Hate Story. In the comments section, netizens reminded him about his own film saying "it is directed by you." Another user wrote, “Using a minor girl for spreading hate and propaganda This same vivek agnihotri said what is the point of art when you don’t celebrate human body directing hate story Ur hypocrisy is exposed bruh…..nobody will stop us from watching #Pathaan "
Besharam Rang, a song by Pathaan that was released earlier this month, has been the topic of controversy ever since. For the uninitiated, a portion of the audience, including Madhya Pradesh MP Narottam Mishra, protested to Deepika wearing a saffron bikini in the dance sequence. Mahant Paramhans Das, an Ayodhya seer, vowed to "burn" Shah Rukh Khan alive last week if the two met. He set fire to Shah Rukh posters and demanded that Pathaan not be shown in theatres. He continued by saying that the theatre would burn down if Pathaan were to be shown there.
