Helmed by Malayalam director S J Sinu, the upcoming musical actioner is headlined by Prabhu Deva and Vedhika

The trailer for Prabhu Deva’s upcoming film Petta Rap, directed by Malayalam director S J Sinu, will be out tomorrow. The makers of the musical actioner have now announced that the trailer will be released on Valentine’s Day. Interestingly, the title of the film is derived from Prabhu Deva’s timeless song by the same name from his hit film Kadhalan (1994). The makers have now taken to their social media handles to share the update with a caption, “Get Ready to groove with @PDdancing in #PettaRap’s first look dropping tomorrow at 6 PM! (sic)”.
Touted to be a musical actioner, the film marks the Tamil debut of S J Sinu, who is known for directing Malayalam films like Theru (2023) and Djibouti (2021). Written by Dinil PK, the film has Vedhika playing the female lead. The upcoming film’s title is inspired from Prabhu Deva’s superhit song Petta Rap from Shankar directorial romantic film Kadhalan.

Earlier a motion poster from the film was unveiled, which featured a vibrant neon look of a city that and a billboard with “Sing, action, Dance repeat” written below the title Petta Rap. From the first glance, the film hints at an action musical, full of dance songs. Jobi P Sam will be producing the film under Blue Hill Films in collaboration with Blue Hill Nael Communication.
Meanwhile, the dance icon will also be seen in a dark comedy titled Jolly O Gymkhana, directed by Sakthi Chidambaram of Charlie Chaplin (2002) fame. Starring Prabhu Deva and Madonna Sebastian, the film will see Prabhudheva play a corpse for the most part. The film is about four women who run a biryani joint but somehow end up with the body of Prabhudeva's character. How he got killed and landed up with the women form the plot of the film. Yogi Babu plays a pastor in the film and Madhusudhana Rao plays the villain. The supporting cast includes Yashika Aannand, John Vijay, Sai Dheena, MS Bhaskar, Robo Shankar, and Aadukalam Naren.
