Popular filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt has turned a year older today. He rose to fame after his directorial Saaransh (1984) was screened at the 14th Moscow International Film Festival and later became India's official entry for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film for that year.

Today, on the occasion of his 75th birthday, Mahesh Bhatt received an adorable letter from his daughter Pooja Bhatt. The letter on Instagram illustrated how he gave her roots, wings, and courage to stand on her own feet.
“To the man who gave me roots, wings, the courage to stand on my own feet, walk alone and unabashedly be myself... A real guru, if there is one, frees you from himself. That was the understanding that UG Krishnamurti instilled in him and what he reinstated to me and countless others day after day... Happy 75’TH Pops! Gratitude to you and my mother for bringing me into this world. And for re-birthing me through the gift of sobriety by simply saying to me ‘If you love me, then love yourself’,” wrote Pooja Bhatt on Instagram.
Back in 1970, director Mahesh Bhatt tied the knot with Lorraine Bright, who later changed her name to Kiran Bhatt. Their love story served as the muse behind his iconic film, "Aashiqui." The couple has two children: Pooja, who is a filmmaker and actress, and Rahul, who is pursuing a career in acting.

Talking about the personal front, Pooja was recently a part of Bigg Boss OTT Season 2, where she emerged as the 4th runner-up of the show. She is best known for her role in the romance comedy Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin (1991), which also emerged as her highest-grossing release.
Elaborating about Mahesh Bhatt’s personal life, he follows Islam and has two wives. With Kiran, he is blessed with two children, while with Soni Razdan, he is blessed with two children namely Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt.
