English artist Rick Astley, 57 is bringing New Year vibes to November. He will be performing his timeless hits on a special New Year’s Eve TV show for BBC One this year. And that is not all, he shall be joined on stage by a set of special guests. Post concert, the channel shall go live to London to cover the annual, epic fireworks display.
The list of guests will be revealed by BBC in due course, but one can expect Astley’s classic numbers Never Gonna Give You Up, Together Forever, and Whenever You Need Somebody to be belted out in that memorable event.
The news was revealed earlier today on Radio 2’s The Claudia Winkleman Show. Rick Astley could not help his excitement as he expressed how honored he felt at being chosen to host the New Year’s Eve celebration this year. He candidly said, “It’s always been part of my New Year’s ritual to watch the show and take in the amazing fireworks, so to be part of it this year is fantastic! Here’s to a great night.”
The Pop sensation has had a good year, having wowed the crowds at Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage with his covers of Harry Style’s As It Was and AC/DC’s iconic number Highway To Hell, and rocked Victoria Park, Leicester among others. Many of his shows were, and still are sold out months in advance. His latest album Are We There Yet? (released this October), his first LP since his 2018’s Beautiful Life, also debuted at Number 2 on the UK Albums Chart.
