After the recent alleged attack on the filmmaker Prakash Jha, he has agreed to change the title of the MX player web series Ashram 3. The crew were reportedly attacked by Bajrang Dal while they were shooting in Madhya Pradesh.
Speaking to Free Press, Banrang Dal prant sanyojak Sushil Sudele said that the producer has agreed to change the name of the web series and share it with them. If not, they will protest against the crew and the director. "We have no problem if the producer and director change the name of the web series," he said. According to the portal, he also claimed that someone did throw ink at director Prakash Jha and he wasn't from the Bajrang Dal group. He further said that he does not regret what happened on the sets of the show. "We just registered protest against people who are defaming Hindu culture to make money," he had said.
Earlier, the activists allegedly vandalised and ransacked the sets of the web series, starring Bobby Deol while the team were shooting its third season. Many filmmakers and associations condemned the attacks and requested the government to take necessary actions against the culprits.
According to the PTI, the police has stated that the windscreens of two buses of the crew were broken in stone-pelting, with the Bajrang Dal threatening that it would not allow the shooting of this web series further. The Producers Guild of India issued a statement condemning the "brazen acts of violence, harassment and vandalism faced by the crew involved in the production of the series 'Ashram' in Bhopal." It further said that it is alarmed to note the 'frequency with which both the production and exhibition sectors are severely and illegally disrupted by various elements with impunity'. It urged the authorities to 'provide safety and security' to these units who are contributing to 'local economies and promoting tourism' in their respective regions.
The web series stars Bobby Deol as the lead. He plays the role of a self-proclaimed Godman Baba Nirala who runs an empire in the fictional city of Kashipur. The crime drama series also features Tridha Choudhury, Aditi Sudhir Pohankar and Anupriya Goenka.
