Prashanth Neel on working with Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon in K.G.F: Chapter 2: They're absolute legends

The highly awaited conclusion to Yash’s Rocky Bhai saga, K.G.F: Chapter 2, is counting down the days till its release. The sequel features some new faces as well, including Sanjay Dutt and Raveena Tandon joining the film’s cast. Director Prashanth Neel recently opened up about his experience directing the popular Bollywood stars.

In conversation with IANS, Neel emphasised that the reason he chose Dutt and Tandon was not that it is a pan Indian film, but rather because the actors brought what he was looking for in the characters. For instance, for the role of the Prime Minister, they wanted a strong Hindi speaking woman and Tandon fitted the bill. Similarly, Neel said that Dutt had ‘always’ been a part of the film’s script.

The director also revealed that he felt ‘apprehensive’ at first while directing the stars, talking about how they had decades of experience working with different directors. Neel felt nervous about whether they would give him a second take even but soon realised that his fears were unfounded as Dutt and Tandon were willing to give as many takes as needed without qualms. “They're absolute legends. They never left the sets, the discipline they had,” revealed Neel.

Neel added that Dutt and Tandon were ‘brilliant’ and made sure to put in the effort to make everything ‘perfect’.

The filmmaker also talked about how the makers had always planned KGF as a two-part saga, and the upcoming film would mark its conclusion.

K.G.F: Chapter 2 will hit theatres on April 14, 2022, in Kannada, Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, and Malayalam.
