Preethisuve: Darling Krishna and Milana Nagaraj romance in picturesque Kashmir

Darling Krishna and Milana Nagaraj’s onscreen pairing being too repetitive of late was a common refrain one would hear after the duo did two Love Mocktail films together. So, when director Shashank cast Milana in Kousalya Supraja Rama along with Krishna, he not only kept that under wraps for as long as possible, but also, when he eventually broke the news, explained that the only reason she was in the film was because only she could pull off the role of Muthulakshmi. Even then, he did not divulge much about what her role in the film was, leaving it to audiences to find out in theatres.

Well, Milana literally carries the second half of the film on her shoulders, playing Krishna’s spouse. As the girl his late mother had seen and approved of just prior to her demise, Krishna’s character Rama, marries Milana’s Muthulakshmi. But it is only then that he finds out that she is a chronic alcoholic, who took to drinking to overcome her nerves while cutting up cadavers in medical school. However, when her vice gets the better of her, she discontinues medical studies, which, Rama then encourages her to resume. A former chauvinist on the road to mending his ways, he also hopes that his love for her will make her change her ways too.

The romantic number Preethisuve, composed by Arjun Janya, sung by Sonu Nigam and lyrics by Jayanth Kaikini, is a song that comes at this juncture in the Rama-Muthulakshmi relationship. Shot in picturesque Kashmir, it explores the budding relationship of love and trust between the couple. Kousalya Supraja Rama, which released on July 28, had a good run at the box office. The film’s satellite rights were reportedly picked up by Zee Network and it is assumed that the digital rights also rest with them. There’s no word on a TV or OTT premiere yet for the film, but now that Shashank has begun releasing the full videos of songs, it could not be far off.
