Prithviraj song Makhmali teaser: Arijit Singh, Shreya Ghoshal pay tribute to Prithviraj-Sanyogita’s love story

After Hadd Kar De song and Yoddha, the makers of Prithviraj have unveiled the teaser of the third song from the film’s soundtrack. Titled Makhmali, the song promises a delightful glimpse into the celebrated love story of Prithviraj and his consort Sanyogita.

The teaser offers several moments on the couple’s journey, including their marriage. The song has been sung by Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal, and its lyrics have been penned by Varun Grover. The film has music composed by musician trio Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy.

In a statement, Akshay Kumar, who essays the role of Prithviraj Chauhan, talked about how he had been lucky to have been a part of many ‘amazing romantic tracks’. The actor said he was confident that Makhmali would also get the same amount of love as the other tracks in his career. “Makhmali has to rank as one of the most soulful romantic tracks of my film career,” he said.

Calling the royals’ love story “mesmerisingly beautiful and pure”, Kumar talked about how the two were ‘equals’ in their relationship. The actor talked about how ‘forward thinking’ the two were and how hard they worked to make people aware of the importance of gender equality. Kumar also said that he himself has been listening to the song on loop.

Manushi Chhillar stars in the upcoming film as Sanyogita, making her Bollywood debut with the film. The actress expressed her excitement at having her first love song being sung by Singh and Ghoshal and talked about how ‘grateful’ she was for her debut film. Chhillar talked about how the song captured the ‘purity’ of Prithviraj and Sanyogita’s love.

Prithviraj is slated to hit the big screen on June 3, 2022.
