Telugu film Mail is one of the official selections for this year’s New York Indian Film Festival. Starring Priyadarshi, Harshith Malgireddy and Gouri Priya Reddy, the film released on the OTT platform Aha on January 21 this year.

Sharing the news on his social media page, Priyadarshi wrote, “#Mail is now an ‘Official selection at the New York Indian Film Festival’. A big thanks to each and everyone who made it possible #ReasonToSmile.”

The film, directed by Uday Gurrala, is set in an idyllic village in Telangana that embraces the internet era in the late 2000s. It revolves around the college student and computer enthusiast Ravi and his rapport with gaming-centre owner Hybath.

In a statement issued by the OTT platform, the makers say, “The film brimming with innocence, humour and emotions is a fond and sincere throwback to the early years of the digital age. Deservedly, NYIFF is all set to expand Mail’s horizons to a wider audience across the globe.”

Mail has been making all the right noises at the festival circuit since its release and its NYIFF entry is just another “golden feather to its cap”, reads the statement. This year’s NYIFF, which is among the oldest film festivals to feature films from the Indian diaspora, will be held in June.

Priyadarshi has played supporting roles in several superhit Telugu films including Vijay Deverakonda’s Pelli Choopulu and Mahesh Babu’s Spyder. He will also be seen in the upcoming Prabhas-starrer Radhe Shyam.
