Projapati box office collection: Dev and Mithun Chakraborty’s film crosses Rs 10 cr in the 7th week

Projapati is a legit blockbuster. The father-son saga featuring Dev and Mithun Chakraborty in the lead crossed the Rs 10 cr boundary at the end of the seventh week. Till now the film's box office collection is Rs 10.27 cr. Besides Dev and Mithun, the film also features Mamata Shankar, Koneenica Banerjee, Ambarish Bharracharya, Shweta, and others. The film was released on December 23, 2022.  

It has been more than 50 days since the film’s release, and before the 50th day, it crossed the Rs 10-crore milestone. The film's distributor Satadeep Saha tweeted, “Nothing to Say More …. Projapati Crossed 10.27 Cr after 49 days by creating history in Bengali Cinema Box Office. 'The chemistry between Dev and Mithun made the film successful.” 

In the post-pandemic scenario, Bengali films made huge losses. South Indian films affected the market of Bollywood and other regional films. However, dev once again proved that he is the undisputed king of the Bengali box office. He is the only Tollywood hero whose three films crossed the milestone of Rs 10 crores. Previously, Dev’s two other films Chander Pahar and Amazon Obhijan also achieved this feat. Chander Pahar’s lifetime box office collection was a whopping Rs 18 crores. On the other hand, Amazon Obhijan is the highest-grossing Bengali film ever, with an income of Rs 20 crores. 

In the Rs 10-crore club, there is Jeet’s, Boss 2: Back to Rule. Evidently, Projapati will not be able to break the records of Chander Pahar or Amazon Obhijan. However, it can break the record of Boss 2 and become the third highest-grossing Bengali film. Till now, the gap between these two films is 23 lakh.
