Earlier this week, distribution wing KRG Connects had teased that one of the late Puneeth Rajkumar’s last cinematic outings, Luckyman, was set to release soon. “A man who is immortal is God and that God is arriving soon,” was the post on their official handle, along with a poster of the film, featuring Puneeth and choreographer-actor-director Prabhu Deva. God, as it turns out, is arriving on May 20, as revealed by the film’s director Nagendra Prasad.
Speaking to an English daily, Nagendra, who is Prabhu Deva’s brother, said that the film, a remake of the Tamil movie Oh My Kadavule, is complete. Puneeth plays god, a role done by Vijay Sethupathi in the original. The only issue the team faces now is about finding a voice talent to dub for Puneeth. Interestingly, since most of Puneeth’s scenes in the film were shot indoors, the team is confident of isolating his voice captured during the shoot and enhancing it for the final product. However, there is about 30% that will require a voice talent to step in and the team is figuring out how best to sort this before releasing the film.
The filmmaker added that he considers it his greatest fortune to not only have had the opportunity to direct Puneeth, but also get him to match steps with his brother, Prabhu Deva. Puneeth, was, one of Kannada cinema’s best dancers and Nagendra promises that the special number featuring him and Prabhu Deva will be a treat for the late Power Star’s fans. Calling it a magical experience for everyone, Nagendra said that he is deeply saddened that Puneeth is not with the team at this time.
