The inevitable has happened. The Omricon variant has affected the release of another major pan-Indian film after SS Rajamouli's magnum opus RRR. Yes, we're talking about Radhe Shyam, the period romance starring Prabhas, Pooja Hegde in key roles. The film, which was to release in seven languages on January 14, has been postponed indefinitely owing to the surge cases pertaining to the Omicron variant across the globe.

UV Creations, the producers of Radhe Shyam, tweeted, "We have to postpone the release of our film #RadheShyam due to the ongoing covid situation. Our sincere thanks to all the fans for your unconditional love and support. We will see you in cinemas soon..! #RadheShyamPostponed." They had also shared a poster where the pivotal characters of the film, Vikram Aditya and Prerana, are trying to reach out to one another.

The poster shared by UV Creations had this message. "We have been trying our best for the past few days but considering the growing cases of Omicron variant, it looks like we'll have to wait for the labour of love to get to the big screens..Radhe Shyam is a story about love versus destiny and we are sure that your love will help us rise over these tough times together. Will see you in the cinemas soon," it read.

It was never going to be easy for the film to hit theatres amid growing restrictions and precautionary measures to control the spread of the Omicron variant in various parts of the country. The makers certainly gave it their best shot for the theatrical release, but alas, destiny had something else in store for them. The film helmed by Radha Krishna Kumar also stars Murali Sharma, Sachin Khedekar, Priyadarshi, Bhagyashree, Jagapathi Babu in key roles.

Justin Prabhakaran has scored the music for all the South Indian versions of Radhe Shyam. Three songs from the film are out already, including Nagumomu Thaarale, Ee Raathale and Sanchari. The film's trailer launch and pre-release event was organised in Hyderabad recently.
