Raftaar announced: Keerthy Suresh and Rajkummar Rao lead high-stakes startup drama about ambition, love, and greed

On March 14, Amazon MGM Studios announced its upcoming theatrical drama Raftaar, starring Rajkummar Rao and Keerthy Suresh in the lead roles. Directed by Aditya Nimbalkar and produced by Patralekhaa under the banner of Kampa Film, Raftaar dives into the fiercely competitive world of startups, where ambition can build empires and destroy relationships. 

What is Raftaar about?

Raftaar, starring Keerthy Suresh and Rajkummar Rao, is a gripping drama of ambition, love, and greed. The film will hit cinemas on July 24, 2026. Raftaar showcases the cutthroat business of education, telling a gripping story of ambition, love, and greed. 

In Raftaar, ambition drives success, and with success comes results. The story revolves around a growing startup and the exciting dynamic between an energetic man and a woman who are equally hungry for success. As money, influence, and greed grow, their quest for victory challenges their relationship. While the rise seems insurmountable, the real test comes after the fall - can they fight back, or will what they've built crumble forever?

The film is reportedly a satire on India's commercial education system, exploring through humour how the profit motive overshadows the dissemination of knowledge. At its core, the story highlights how unyielding ambition can fuel extraordinary success, while also demanding personal sacrifice. As the protagonists chase their dreams and build a fast-growing startup, the film raises the question of whether the emotional and moral costs that come with success are really worth it. 

Raftaar features Rajkummar Rao and Keerthy Suresh in the lead roles, supported by a talented ensemble cast including Anurag Thakur, Rohan Verma, Tanya Maniktala, and Rajat Kapoor, in pivotal roles.

Meanwhile, apart from Raftaar, Rajkummar's upcoming projects include playing cricket legend Sourav Ganguly in a biopic. He also has a Ujjwal Nikam biopic. Speaking about the Ganguly biopic, after initial delays, shooting is set to begin in March 2026, with filming taking place in Kolkata, Mumbai, England, and Australia, as per reports.
