Rahul says he can never forgive Raj Chakraborty

Two days ago, Rahul Arunoday Banerjee wrote an explosive post on social media. Without naming him, he attacked director Raj Chakraborty, accusing him of being a ‘copycat.’ He wrote, “The one who used to copy continues to do so. He copies not only Tamil films but also Pankaj Tripathi’s look in Sacred Games.” This post came after Raj dropped the teaser of Abar Proloy. Evidently, Rahul targeted Raj for Ritwick Chakraborty’s look in the teaser. 

Rahul’s post caused a stir on social media. The actor faced criticism for his remarks in the social media backlash. In an interview with Independent Bengal, Rahul clarified, “My post was not a hint. In fact, I directly wrote that for Raj. People are asking why did I say such things to Raj since I started my career with his films. My point is, even if I start my career with him, a copy-paste job will remain a copy-paste job.” 

Soon after this, Rahul alleged, “People have a very short memory, but I remember. In August 2008, our film (Chirodini Tumi Je Amar) was released. In January 2009, Raj gave an interview in one of the most popular dailies in Bengal and said, ‘Rahul is a dishonest boy. Rahul is a very bad person. I don’t want to work with him in the future. I don’t want anyone to cast him.’ My father was alive at that time. He was deeply hurt. That newspaper went to everyone’s home, and in front of everyone, he called me dishonest.”

Rahul further stated, “I survived in this industry for 15 years since that incident. No one has ever called me dishonest. Many directors have cast me multiple times. I have established myself through my own hard work. You can’t attribute my journey just to Chirodini Tumi Je Amar.” 

Rahul never personally spoke with Raj. According to him, what Raj said reached 80 million people. “So even if he seeks forgiveness personally, it won’t change anything,” he said.

Even after 15 years, Rahul can’t forget Raj’s mistake. He said, “If I were a village boy struggling alone in this city, I would have been depressed at that time. If my parents weren’t by my side, if Priyanka (Sarkar, his wife) wasn’t by my side, then I could have become a second Sushant Singh Rajput in this city.”
