Raj B Shetty and Rishab Shetty are known as filmmakers who not only make great content, but also ensure that it is steeped in the culture of their homeland, which they then present in a format that is enjoyable to all without barriers of language or region, etc. Raj’s Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana was named a must-watch by pretty much every critic worth his/her salt, while Kirik Party, Ricky and Sarkari Hiriya Prathamika Shaale maker Rishab’s Kantara, which will be in theatres on September 30, is one of the most anticipated films of the year.

Raj and Rishab were our guests at the first-ever OTTplay Awards and Conclave 2022 in Mumbai on September 10, to witness the celebration of the best of OTT content from across the country. Gracing the purple carpet of the event, the duo was an instant hit, as their co-ordinated panche and black shirt look was widely appreciated.

During the course of the evening, OTTplay honoured Raj B Shetty and Rishab Shetty for their efforts in creating new wave cinema. Minnal Murali star Guru Somasundaram presented the award for Pioneering Contributions to New Wave Cinema to Raj and Rishab. “Thank you to OTTplay Awards. Talent was always judged by the language and the actor who performs. Thank you for eradicating that for the first time in India. Now, we are proud to be the way we are, look the way we are and write the stories that are ours and still be Indian and be accepted and complimented by audiences,” said Raj in his acceptance speech, which was a nod to our One Nation, One OTT Award idea. Rishab, who took time out from his hectic post-production schedule of Kantara to be at the event, added tht he was dedicating the award to the late Dr Puneeth Rajkumar.
