The collection of Jailer is expected to witness a spike this weekend worldwide. The movie is already the highest Tamil grosser of this year, surpassing Varisu and Ponniyin Selvan 2. The trade is eagerly looking forward to knowing when the Rajinikanth-starrer is going to dethrone Ponniyin Selvan 1 to become the highest-grosser in Tamil Nadu.

The Nelson directorial has emerged as the biggest Kollywood hit in Kerala and Karnataka, besides other territories like Malaysia and GCC countries. The film took a huge start in the US amassing close to 1M dollars in advance ticket sales.

The makers have now officially announced the movie's collection from the US market. It has grossed $5M across the country and the news has been let out in the popular Las Vegas Strip. This never-before-heard marketing even after 10 days of its release has left fans excited.

The overseas collection of Jailer is said to be around $20M. Ayngaran International, which has bought the overseas theatrical rights of the film, expressed excitement about the project's performance recently. Netflix bagged its digital rights a while ago; the film is expected to drop online in the second week of September.

With no notable competition in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Telugu states in the next week, Jailer is likely to garner more audience. It has to be seen how much the movie can set the bar high in the coming weeks. The next big Tamil release, Leo, will have to perform exceptionally well to surpass many records Jailer created in recent days.

Though Rajinikanth's meeting with UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has left netizens and movie buffs divided, it seems to have little effect on the box office.
