Actor Rajkummar Rao, known for his versatility and diverse roles in Bollywood, has proved his mettle by starring in successful projects like Stree and Newton. The actor, in conversation with Film Companion for the Ketto Fundraiser event, divulged that he is a fan of Mollywood actor Fahad Faasil. Answering a fan’s question, he said, “Fahad is doing such amazing work.”

Lauding Faasil’s performance in Kumbalangi Nights, Rao expressed his own desire to learn Malayalam. When asked about the possibility of talents from different film industries in India working together, the actor elaborated on his connection with Mollywood. “I have so many friends who are from Kerala, I have a friend from Kerala who is a sound designer and I was asking him to teach me Malayalam because I really want to work in a Malayalam Cinema,” he revealed.

Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal was posed with the same question at the event. He emphasized on his wish to work in Mollywood. “Yes I would love to, love to, love to, love to! One of my favourite actors in the country is Fahad Faasil. I love the work he does and I love the cinema that is coming out of Kerala, even some Tamil Films too. Asuran by Dhanush was a film that really numbed me and jolted me,” he shared. On finding out that Rao is planning on learning Malayalam, Kaushal said, “I beat Raj to that race.”

This is not the first time that Rao has stated his love for Mollywood. He recently appreciated Malayalam actor Joju George’s performance in Nayattu. “What a brilliant performance sir. Loved the film also. Keep inspiring us with such amazing performances sir (sic)," he wrote in a personal Instagram message sent to Joju George. The Mollywood actor then posted a screenshot of the message with a caption revealing his excitement at having received the message. He called Rao’s appreciation the first award he has received for Nayattu.
