Raksha Bandhan: Himanshu Sharma & Kanika Dhillon join hands for Akshay Kumar- Bhumi Pednekar film

Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar starrer Raksha Bandhan is creating quite a lot of buzz ever since it was announced that the Toilet: Ek Prem Katha actors will reunite for this Aanand L Rai directorial. The film will be penned by writer couple Himanshi Sharma and Kanika Dhillon. Raksha Bandhan will be the first collaboration for the couple who tied the knot earlier this year.

While Himansu has previously weaved magic with his writing in blockbuster films like Raanjhanaa and the Tanu weds Manu series, Kanika Dhillon on the other hand is known for giving us powerful characters in films like 'Manmarziyaan', 'Kedarnath' and 'Judgementall Hai Kya' Fans are super stoked to learn that they will be co-writing their highly anticipated next - Raksha Bandhan.

The movie that features Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar in lead roles was announced last year by Kumar on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.Talking about the project Himanshu Sharma said in a statement, "This is the first time that I'm co-writing a script and I'm fortunate to collaborate with a talent like ‘Kanika...who has got such a distinct voice...she' has such a varied body of work which I've always admired and I hope we do our best in Raksha Bandhan.

Co-writer Kanika Dhillon also shared her excitement about working on the project and stated, "Raksha Bandhan is a very special story and for the first time I have collaborated with Himanshu Sharma - who is known for changing the landscape of Hindi films! Of course, I was nervous and excited to work with this gigantic talent! with Raksha Bandhan we hope we will be able to tell a story that makes its way into the hearts of every brother and sister!"

The arrival of these two powerhouse writers onboard has made fans go gaga over the upcoming movie.

Raksha Bandhan is produced by Akshay Kumar's sister, Alka Bhatia and Anand L Rai. The film is backed by Colour Yellow Productions in association with Cape of Good Films.
