The viewers were up for a delightful surprise as Aanand L. Rai’s Raksha Bandhan trailer released. In this trailer, Akshay Kumar is stuck between being a good brother and lover. Bhumi Pednekar, who collaborated with him on Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, plays his lover in this film too.

Akshay as Maryada Purshottam is back in his character that people have loved over the years – the bechaara who is lost in life but finds his way eventually. This time, he can either lose the respect of his sisters or his lover or both. However, in some other way, he gains all of their respect and life gets back to normal or at least that’s what the trailer hints at.

Raksha Bandhan introduces Sadia Khateeb, Sahejmeen Kaur, Deepika Khanna and Smrithi Srikanth as Akshay’s sisters in the film. As always, Akshay has named the women in his movie before his own self.

The movie, helmed by Aanand L. Rai, has been making headlines since it is slated to clash with Aamir Khan’s much-awaited film, Laal Singh Chaddha. While Raksha Bandhan wants to release on August 11, since that is the day of Raksha Bandhan, Aamir has not delayed the release of his film any more either, since his fans are also eager to watch the film and they had already finalized on the date before Raksha Bandhan.

While Raksha Bandhan is the story of a brother who tries to keep his sisters above his lover, Laal Singh Chaddha is the official Hindi adaptation of Tom Hanks’ Forrest Gump. The movie also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and Mona Singh in pivotal roles.
