Ram Charan ready to perform Naatu Naatu at Oscars: ' It will be a tribute to audience...'

Telugu superstar Ram Charan is touring across Los Angeles promoting his latest movie RRR. Co-starring Jr NTR, the action movie has received unprecedented appreciation from movie-watching audiences across the country. And Charan is basking in all the love he's receiving in the US. 

Charan recently appeared on KTLA Morning News to talk about RRR's success and its Oscar nomination for RRR. He seemed quite excited about the prospect of performing his famous Naatu Naatu hook step during the Oscars. The Academy confirmed that singers Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava give a live performance of the song. Composer MM Keeravani will also be present on the stage conducting the music with his band. A group of dancers will also perform the song on the stage. 

When Charan was asked whether he will lead the dancers on the stage of the Oscars, he suggested he was ready. "For the audience who have given us so much, it will be a tribute, for me, to do that and give my love back to the audience," he said. 

Charan earlier also expressed his willingness to dance at the Oscars if there was an invitation from the Academy. 

“We (Jr NTR and I) would love to do ‘Naatu Naatu’ anywhere that we are being appreciated, but not every place accommodates us to perform. But if we’re at the Oscars and there’s a request, and there’s time, why not? We’ll be more than happy to entertain our audience, who have given us so much. To do the whole number on the stage would be difficult, as it takes a lot of breath and energy. But definitely the hook step. Why not?," said Charan earlier in an interview with the Letterboxd. 

As the date for the Oscar ceremony draws closer, the makers of RRR have stepped up their campaign. RRR is being re-released across America in more than 200 theatres on March 3. The awards will be announced at an event on March 12. 

Naatu Naatu is nominated for the Oscars in the Best Orginal Song category. The main cast and crew, including Charan, director SS Rajamouli and Jr NTR will be at the event.
