Ranbir Kapoor, who recently wrapped up the shooting of his much anticipated film Brahmastra, has dived into the promotions of his father Rishi Kapoor's last film. Titled Sharmaji Namkeen, the film has been directed by Hitesh Bhatia and produced by Ritesh Shidhwani. In a recent interview with a leading online portal, Ranbir not only spoke about Rishi Kapoor and the traits that he feels he's imbibed from him, but also got candid about his mother Neetu Kapoor, who will be seen making a comeback as an actress with Karan Johar's production titled Jug Jugg Jeeyo.

The veteran actress has appeared sporadically on silver screens in films like Do Dooni Chaar and Jab Tak Hai Jaan with Rishi Kapoor. They were last seen together in Ranbir Kapoor starrer Besharam which released back in 2013.

Now, almost a decade later, Neetu Kapoor will be seen in Raj Mehta's directorial Jug Jugg Jeeyo. While speaking with Film Companion, Ranbir was asked about how he helped his mother, if at all, handle her nerves, the Brahmastra actor shared that after what they collectively went through as a family, post the demise of Rishi Kapoor, he and his sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahni understood that their mother had sacrificed a lot of her life for building their family, for his sister and himself.

Further talking about Neetu, Ranbir mentioned that she got married to his father when she was 21 years old and was an extremely successful actress back then. He said that she gave up her acting career on her own accord because she wanted to be there for her family. But he feels that now his sister is married in Delhi, he is also busy with his work, that she should (make a comeback).

Ranbir added that people really like his mother. Giving examples from his travel experiences, he shared that wherever he travels, as much as people speak to him about his father, they also talk to him about his mother. "They really like her as a person, they have a personal connect with her. So we convinced her," the actor told FC.

Ranbir said that initially Neetu was low on confidence and then Karan Johar offered her Jug Jugg Jeeyo and she really enjoyed the process. "Slowly she's getting the acting bug back. She did acting classes during COVID, she did a lot of diction classes," he told the portal. Ranbir also revealed that his mother even sat with him to discuss some of her scenes, telling him that there's a monologue that she's doing and asked him how she should do it.

The Sanju actor further said that it is important to be busy as a human being as it helps in the healing process. He shared that he has no idea what his mother went through as she was a rock to his father during the hard times. He mentioned that he's not seen the kind of selflessness that his mother has, anywhere else.

Ranbir added that he doesn't even know if his mother has healed. "May be she needs therapy, may be she needs to speak it out, may be through her work, may be through interacting with people that will come out, but I'm really really happy that she's doing this," said Ranbir.

Jug Jugg Jeeyo also stars Anil Kapor, Varun Dhawan and Kiara Advani and is slated to release on June 24, 2022.
