Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana update – TV actress Indira Krishnan to play the role of Kausalya in the film?

In 2023, the big-budget film Adipurush – based on the mythological epic Ramayana – hit the theatres. Despite having a stellar cast and a gripping storyline, the film failed to perform at the box office due to its poor visual effects. Much time has passed since the development and now, filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari has decided to depict Ramayana in his own style. Ranbir Kapoor is likely to play the lead role in Tiwari’s depiction of the saga. And now, fresh reports suggest that TV actress Indira Krishnan will play the role of Ranbir Kapoor’s mother in the film.

Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana update

According to a report published by ETimes recently, TV actress Indira Krishnan will play the role of Ranbir Kapoor’s mother in Nitesh Tiwari’s directorial Ramayana. With this development, it is clear that Indira will be playing the role of Kausalya, while Ranbir Kapoor will be playing the role of Lord Rama in the project.

Notably, Indira also worked with Ranbir Kapoor in the recent blockbuster Animal. Indira essayed the role of Rashmika Mandanna’s mother in the film.

The report further hinted that the title of Nitesh Tiwari’s directorial will be announced next month, and the film will be released by the end of 2025.

Ranbir Kapoor is preparing intensely for his role as Lord Ram in the upcoming Ramayana film, directed by Nitesh Tiwari. A newly surfaced photo shows Ranbir Kapoor doing a headstand in the gym. His trainer, Nam, posted the image with hashtags like "Ramayan," "new skill," and "prep", suggesting that Ranbir is preparing for a significant role. Separately, a fan shared a photo of Ranbir last evening with an archery coach, indicating that he's also training in archery.

Ramayana cast

The film’s shooting is set to begin later this year after extensive pre-production. Ranbir Kapoor is set to portray Lord Ram, with Sai Pallavi cast as Sita. Also, Ravan’s role will be portrayed by KGF actor Yash.
