Actress Rani Mukerji has responded to a comment made by Norwegian Ambassador about her film Mrs. Chatterjee Vs Norway. Hans Jacob recently stated that the film was made on a fictional representation of a true case, and that it is filled with factual inaccuracies.
A few days ago, Hans Jacob took to social media and said that the film incorrectly depicts Norway’s beliefs in family life and their respect for different cultures. He further added, “It is important for me to present the official Norwegian perspective and correct factual inaccuracies that this film unfortunately portrays… I hope this film will be seen for what it is, and I trust in the viewers to understand that this is a fictional representation.”
While speaking with Hindustan Times, Rani commented on his remark and said that the film was not made to offend anybody, and people need to be aware of such incidents happening in the world. “It is a true story, and the intention of the film was very different from what was being projected in the opinion that was given. It was about a mother’s journey,” she added.
The actress also said that the film portrays how authorities are not always the main culprits, but people do take advantage of the system. “But everybody is touchy about their own country and will try to defend. But more than that, it’s about watching the film and the story that happened,” she added.
Rani also claimed that the film cannot be termed fictional, because the Indian government was involved in getting the children united with their mother. She stated that the statements of one person are not really going to affect the larger picture of the film.
Ashima Chibber’s directorial, Mrs. Chatterjee Vs Norway has left the audience in tears with the depiction of a mother who fights a nation to be reunited with her two kids. The film stars Rani and Anirban Bhattacharya.
