Ranveer Singh’s Jayeshbhai Jordaar has impressed fans with its trailer. The actor has now opened up about his upcoming film. He called it an estrogen fuelled film whose release during the times of box office biggies such as KGF: 2 and RRR is a coincidence.
Talking to PTI, the actor said that he is excited and happy to be the centerpiece of a movie which is the opposite of what is going on in the industry today. He said that the movie is an estrogen filled film during the time of testosterone filled movies and that he is curious to see how it plays out.
“Not that this was by design, we created the film and had to wait for the release. It has just so happened that it comes in a phase where the last few successful films at the box office have been Sooryavanshi, Pushpa, KGF: 2, and RRR”, said Singh. He further added that in the ongoing trend, the movie comes as a “googly”.
The movie, which is helmed by debutant director Divyang Thakkar, had to wait out the coronavirus pandemic, in order for it to release in theatres. The movie did not take the OTT route like a few films have since 2020.
Jayeshbhai Jordaar is bankrolled by Aditya Chopra and Maneesh Sharma under the banner of Yash Raj Films. Ranveer Singh, who is known to play distinct characters in his movies, will appear as a mild mannered husband, who has to fight his family and society to protect his unborn girl child.
Also starring Shalini Pandey, Boman Irani and Ratna Pathak Shah in pivotal roles, the movie will hit theatres on May 13. Its OTT release is yet to be confirmed.
