A few days ago, team Saakini Daakini had revised its OTT deal with Netflix and confirmed the theatrical release of the film for September 16. The teaser of the Nivetha Thomas, Regina Cassandra starrer was launched today. The film, a remake of the South Korean actioner Midnight Runners, is helmed by Sudheer Varma. Saakini Daakini is produced by Suresh Babu, Sunitha Tati, Hyunwoo Thomas Kim under Suresh Productions, Guru Films and Kross Pictures.
In the teaser, Regina Cassandra and Nivetha Thomas are introduced as Shalini and Damini, trainees at the police academy. While Nivetha is a big-time foodie, Regina is believed to have OCD. The two women fall under the eyes of their superiors for their under-performance at the academy. A cop even takes a jibe at Shalini for focusing more on her meals and less on the task ahead of her. The action later shifts to the tussle between the women and their funny struggles.
Shalini and Damini constantly try to prove their supremacy over one another across various situations. However, the teaser takes a drastic turn when they need to kick some serious butt and show their might in front of the baddies. The quirky on-screen camaraderie between Regina and Nivetha makes for good, light-hearted viewing while there's enough to keep the action junkies interested. Prudhvi Raj, Sudarshan and Bhanu Chander are also part of the film's supporting cast.
Saakini Daakini is the second collaboration among Suresh Productions, Guru Films and Kross Pictures after their super-hit Oh Baby, headlined by Samantha. Richard Prasad cranks the camera for the film with Mikey McCleary and Naresh Kumaran working on the film's music. Viplav Nyshadam and Gandhi Nadikudikar are the editor and production designer respectively. Vijay Shankar Donkada is the executive producer. The trailer of the film will be launched soon.
