Robert Pattinson is set to reprise his role as the Caped Crusader in The Batman 2. Director Matt Reeves will also return. Warner Bros broke this news at Cinema Con in Las Vegas yesterday.
At Cinema Con, Reeves said that he, Pattinson "and the whole team will be taking audiences back to Gotham in The Batman 2." The director said he is a big fan of the character and "is excited to jump back into this world for the next chapter," writes Entertainment Weekly.
No plot details or a release date were revealed but there is a possibility of Batman interacting with Barry Keoghan's Joker who was revealed right at the end of the first movie.
Collider notes that when the sequel was not confirmed, Reeves had revealed his big plans for Batman's story. The outlet adds that The Batman having a follow-up also does not come as a surprise as the movie had earned $750 million at the worldwide box office and garnered surprisingly positive reviews.
The Batman also starred Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Colin Farrell as Penguin and Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon.
Besides the highly-anticipated sequel, Reeves has two spinoff series at HBO Max, one focused on the Arkham Asylum and the Gotham police department and the other on Colin Farrell's villainous Penguin.
The Batman is available to stream on BookMyShow, Apple TV and Google Play.
