SS Rajamouli’s RRR (Hindi version), featuring Ram Charan and Jr. NTR in the lead roles, has neared Rs. 75 crores nett Box Office over its first weekend. The movie has minted Rs. 74.50 crores nett on its first weekend. RRR collected Rs. 31.50 crores on Sunday (day 3).
This is the best performing first Sunday film at the Box Office post-pandemic. No movie could cross Rs. 30 crore mark on its first Sunday.
Here are the day-wise Box Office collections for RRR (Hindi):
Friday – Rs. 19 crores
Saturday – Rs. 24 crores
Sunday – Rs. 31.50 crores
Total – Rs. 74.50 crores
The film has beaten the collections of Sooryavanshi in most belts, except Mumbai. The Akshay Kumar starring film had performed extremely well in both Gujarat and Maharashtra when it released.
While RRR has taken the first place, beating Sooryavanshi with its Sunday Box Office collections, the movie’s weekend collections fell a little behind. Sooryavanshi, which released on Diwali, had minted nearly Rs. 2 crores more than RRR on its opening weekend. The film had collected Rs. 76.72 crores, which is the best weekend Box Office collection post-pandemic till date.
RRR’s Hindi version has been working well in Hyderabad and Bangalore. It has worked like magic in places like Rajasthan, Bihar, Odisha and Gujarat too. While the movie took a slow start in places like Ludhiana, Amritsar and Jalandhar, even there, RRR saw a huge jump of nearly 70%.
SS Rajamouli’s film, while performing well in Mumbai, Delhi-NCR and Punjab over the weekend, has the real challenge on Monday. The movie’s ticket rates are too high in these belts and thus, the occupancy is low.
Nonetheless, RRR has another weekend and if it is lucky, the film might end up setting a benchmark like The Kashmir Files’. Although RRR has simply touched Rs. 75 crore mark on its first weekend, it remains to be seen if Yash’s KGF: Chapter 2 can cross the mark and make it to Rs. 100 crores over the first weekend, post the pandemic.
