Ruchi Malviya to play a social media influencer in Mukesh Jasoos

Ruchi Malviya, who was previously seen in Bejoy Nambiar’s Flip and Ken Ghosh’s The Verdict, is excited about her upcoming role as a social media influencer in Disney+ Hotstar’s Quix series, Mukesh Jasoos.

The actress will be sharing screen space with Poonam Dhillon, Rahul Bagga and Rajeshwari Sachdev in the short-format series. On her role, Ruchi says, “I play a character who is completely opposite of what I am in real life which made it more interesting for me. I play this girl who comes from a very humble background and is married to an extremely simple and down-to-earth man called Mukesh. She is a girl with big aspirations yet very innocent and vulnerable."

Ruchi got the role via a self-recorded audition video during the pandemic. “It was a fairly long process, two rounds of auditions, one self-recorded and the other was at Humaramovie’s office. I was told that they considered quite a few influencers and other actors and almost about 1,200 people were auditioned for this role. It really feels nice to stand out in the crowd especially for someone who has just started out,” she says.

Talking about working with veteran actress Poonam Dhillon, who plays the role of her mother, Ruchi says, “Just sharing the same screen space with Poonam ma’am felt enriching. Watching her act and delivering her dialogues with such finesse was a learning experience. She never made me feel intimidated by her presence, in fact, she guided me a lot, fixed my hair sometimes too (chuckles).”

Describing her co-actor Rahul Bagga as someone who is “always calm and composed”, Ruchi explains, “Scenes with him were a free fall, they had this no-holds-barred approach. We improvised as much as we could.”

The 20-episode series will follow the story of an unprofessional lawyer, who wants to be a detective.
